SA gets a new Medical Aid - for pets!
An easy to
understand medical aid for our pets has been lacking until now, but
a new innovative company, MedipetSA, has taken the initiative,
launching its first product for dogs and cats.
It's hard
enough for us as humans to wade through the multitude of options
available to us from the various medical aid offerings, so a simple
one for dogs and cats to read is as essential for their owners.
MedipetSA allows pet owners to opt for an uncomplicated
comprehensive medical aid for dogs and cats. It's easy to understand
and you know what you are getting for your money.
Whilst we are
duty-bound to care for our pets the escalating, and often
misunderstood, costs of a vets examination or treatment forces many
either to ignore a problem, or wait for their number to be called at
the SPCA or similar facility.
"Medical cover
for pets is commonplace overseas and whilst a few companies in South
Africa have tried to offer various products, neither pet owners or
vets have used them in any great numbers mainly due to the
complicated plans and schemes on offer", says Richard Neville, MD of
MedipetSA.
Pet insurance
companies oversees are seen as essential, yet South Africans have
been a little more resistant when it comes to reading pet insurance
policies with what sometimes seems to be more exclusions and
opt-outs than actual cover.
The monthly
premium covers costs of up to R25000 per annum, though
pre-authorisation is required for certain procedures. This will
dissuade pets from running up huge vet bills for unnecessary
procedures such as cosmetic surgery.
"For a monthly
premium of just R125 for dogs and R115 for cats, not only will this
be good for owners' pockets, but also for the welfare of their pets
and those registering online at
www.medipetsa.co.za before January the 1st will get a
discount on the premium ", adds Neville.
Pets from 8
weeks to 9 years old qualify for life, giving peace of mind to
owners and pets alike.
