Santam awarded as primary Insurance Company of the year

Santam has been rated this year’s top primary insurance company on the African continent by the esteemed global insurance and reinsurance publication, Reactions. 

The awards, judged via reader polls, are geared towards and won by truly global firms such as Munich Re (Global non-life reinsurer of the year) and Benfield (Reinsurance broker of the year) however, regional votes have been added to the categories in order to establish the best insurance companies in Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Africa.

Those polled include chief executive officers, chief financial officers and other senior executives of insurance, reinsurance and broker firms, as well as risk managers and chief financial officers of FTSE 500 and Fortune 500 corporations. The magazine reaches key executives all over the world.

Steffen Gilbert, CE of Santam says, “This is the third year this category has been awarded and on the previous two occasions it went to AIG – the largest insurance group in the world – represented in many more countries on the African continent than Santam. 

“The award reinforces our position as the largest short-term insurer in SA and also highlights our success in growing our brand.”
