Resolution Health reaches 100 000-members milestone
Five and a half years after starting out with just 192
members, Resolution Health Medical Scheme has reached the
100,000 members milestone, cementing its position as one of
the leading role players in the South African health care
industry.
“With hard work and dedication, we are proud to have reached
the 100,000 membership mark. This has been achieved
notwithstanding various negative aspects in the healthcare
industry and an unstable and ever changing market,” said
Jannie Kotze, Resolution Health’s CEO.
As
one of 47 open medical schemes operating in the country,
Resolution Health is approaching the top ten in membership
terms as it continues to add new members in a highly complex
environment under constant scrutiny from government and the
public .
“Our growth is significant when one takes into account the
fact that there has been an overall decline in the number of
South Africans covered by medical schemes,” said Kotze.
A recent survey points to a decline in total population
joining medical schemes – down by about half a million lives
to 14% in 2005 from 15.2% in 2002.
According to Kotze, the changing landscape of the industry
provides continuous challenges for medical schemes and the
race to grow membership bases is reaching new heights
against a backdrop of new and pending legislation.
“We have committed ourselves to innovative, cost-effective
products and excellent service and will constantly strive to
enhance access to quality private health care for the people
of South Africa,” added Kotze.
